sundair
Sundair is a German charter airline that focuses on holiday routes to the Mediterranean and North Africa.
Overview
Sundair operates a fleet of seven aircraft, consisting of four Airbus A319s and three Airbus A320s. The airline serves destinations such as Heraklion, Hurghada, Palma de Mallorca and Amman from German bases including Kassel, Erfurt and Berlin.
Fleet Details
The three Airbus A320s in Sundair’s fleet are used for both short‑haul Mediterranean hops and longer routes to North African resorts. The four Airbus A319s complement the A320s by providing capacity for slightly lower‑demand routes while maintaining operational commonality across the fleet.
Notable Aircraft – D‑ANNA (Airbus A320)
The aircraft registered D‑ANNA was originally delivered to Air Berlin in October 2007. It transferred to the Niki subdivision of Air Berlin in May 2009, returned to Air Berlin, and was stored in April 2013 when the airline ceased operations. From June 2013 to September 2019 the plane served Aigle Azur in France before being delivered to Sundair in January 2020, where it has remained in service.
Tegel Airport Farewell Flight
On 7 November 2020, during the final commercial operations at Berlin’s Tegel Airport, Sundair operated an Airbus A320 registered D‑ASGK, still bearing its former Air Berlin livery. The flight departed Tegel for the new Berlin‑Brandenburg “Willy Brandt” Airport (BER) under the special callsign TXL4EVR (“Tegel forever”) as part of the airport’s historic closure ceremony.
