What are the features of Lufthansa’s non-Allegris business class cabins on the A350?
37% Live and Let's Fly
31% 2PAXfly
32% Other
Lufthansa still operates a few A350 business‑class cabins that aren’t part of the new Allegris family, mainly the legacy 2‑2‑2 layout and its variations.
Legacy 2‑2‑2 cabin (pre‑Allegris)
- Seat configuration – A traditional 2‑2‑2 arrangement with 48 seats split into a front cabin of 36 seats and a rear cabin of 12 seats, separated by lavatories and a galley Live and Let’s Fly .
- Seat dimensions – Pitch is 64 inches (about 20 inches wide) and the lie‑flat bed extends to 78 inches in length Live and Let’s Fly .
- Cabin amenities – Passengers receive a mattress pad, pillow and duvet, but there are no individual air nozzles and the cabin can become warm overnight Live and Let’s Fly .
- Seat type – The seats are based on the Collins Aerospace Diamond design, featuring a reverse‑herringbone layout with limited footwell space One Mile at a Time .
“Throne” and mixed‑layout seats
- Throne seats – An alternate 2‑2‑2/2‑1‑2 hybrid product that offers a 2‑metre bed (shorter than the 2.2‑metre beds in the newer suites) and a more compact footprint 2PAXfly .
- Business‑plus – The first row of this cabin is marketed as “business plus,” providing a larger seat with a 27‑inch screen, wardrobe and a sliding door, similar to premium offerings on other carriers 2PAXfly .
Transition period
- While Lufthansa has begun rolling out the Allegris cabins on newer A350s, many aircraft still retain these older configurations, especially on routes that have not yet been upgraded Economy Class & Beyond PYOK .
These non‑Allegris cabins give travelers a functional business‑class experience, but they lack the direct‑aisle access, larger privacy walls and upgraded entertainment that the Allegris suite provides.
Review: Lufthansa A350 Business Class
I was impressed by both great service and tasty meals on my very first Lufthansa A350 flight. This business class review covers my journey from Los Angeles to Frankfurt with my wife and two children. We booked two tickets with Avianca LifeMiles (63,500 miles each via American Express Membership Rewards) and one with Air Canada Aeroplan (70,000 miles). Why separate tickets? As I outlined here, infant tickets cost only 25CAD with Aeroplan and I required one for my little daughter Claire Marie. That was certainly worth the extra 6,500 miles. Taxes were $5.60 per ticket. LifeMiles adds a
Lufthansa rolls out its “new” A350s with revised seating… raising more questions than not…
Lufthansa last week rolled out its “newest” Airbus A350, which will be configured a lot different than the current A350s out there. Let us take a look. The new aircraft – D-AIVC is named after the city of Munich. It was christened at Munich Airport by the Bavarian Minister, President Dr. Markus Söder. The “Munich” is the first aircraft in the Lufthansa fleet to offer its guests an improved Business Class. All seats have direct access to the aisle, can be easily and quickly converted into a two-meter-long bed and offer more storage space. In addition,
Review: Lufthansa Business Class 787 (DTW-FRA)
For the outbound portion of my quick trip to Germany, I flew Lufthansa’s new Boeing 787-9 business class from Detroit to Frankfurt. This isn’t Lufthansa’s new Allegris business class, but rather is an interim new business class product. Lufthansa opportunistically picked up five additional Boeing 787s during the pandemic, which were intended for China’s Hainan Airlines. When the airline was no longer in a financial position to take delivery of these planes, Lufthansa seized the opportunity to expand. So these planes have the interiors that were intended for Hainan, except with Lufthansa finishes. You can expect these 787s
LUFTHANSA: New First Class Suites
The German airline has just announced its new ‘Alegris’ First Class seating product to be installed on Airbus A350s to be delivered in 2023. The suite is just one aspect of this new Allegris brand which covers new seats in business class and premium economy. This new suite updates the airline’s first-class product by making the seat nearly a metre wide converting it into a 2-metre bed, and adding the usual first-class features of direct aisle access, a door, wardrobe, and almost total enclosure and companion seat. The suite was originally destined for the Boeing 777-9, now long delayed,
The First Lufthansa Airbus A350 to Feature The New Allegris Business Class Cabin Will Debut On Munich to Vancouver Route On May 1
The first Airbus A350-900 to feature Lufthansa’s long-delayed ‘Allegris’ Business Class seat will go into service between Munich and Vancouver beginning May 1, with Toronto to follow shortly thereafter, along with Chicago and Montreal in the summer. Considering that Lufthansa first announced the Allegris project back in 2017, this moment has been a long time coming, and while the new Business Class seats will be a big improvement on the German flag carrier’s current generation of long-haul premium seats, you’ve got to wonder whether Allegris will survive the test of time. To make matters even more confusing, Lufthansa
