What is Milepoint?

Milepoint launched in beta in February and has grown to just under a million posts and about 40,000 members.
The site provides forums for travelers to ask and answer award‑booking questions, share travel deals, and connect with industry experts.
It has been featured in mainstream media such as USA Today, highlighting its welcoming platform for both newcomers and seasoned flyers.
Milepoint also supports charitable efforts, including Kiva microlending teams and fundraising for causes like Susan G. Komen. View from the Wing +3

Recent Improvements and Fixes

In October 2015 the community relaunched as Inside Flyer, expanding to a global footprint with local‑language sites and integrating mileage tracking, travel‑itinerary tools, and social features.
At the time of the relaunch only about half of the new features were live, with additional functionality slated to roll out over the following weeks.
A premium membership package returned in September 2012, offering ad‑free browsing, United MileagePlus miles, Hyatt Gold Passport status, and several other travel‑related freebies.
Milepoint members also gained free inflight internet access through Gogo, allowing full site usage while airborne during a limited promotion in spring 2012. View from the Wing

The New Inside Flyer Launches with a 150% Bonus on Purchased Miles and Up to 50% Off Awards
Milepoint was launched in 2011 as a frequent flyer community where members could talk about their travels and loyalty programs in a friendly way on a new platform. I’ve enjoyed the many interactions with folks I’ve had there, and have been privileged to be a part of the community I helped to found. Although I don’t think it reached its potential, and we certainly didn’t do everything with and for it that we’d always talked about. That’s changing. Only half the features are up and running today, it will take the next several weeks for you to see

Flyertalk vs. Milepoint, Media Smackdown
Okay, not a smackdown but a compare and contrast. USA Today ran a story today on Flyertalk versus Milepoint. It’s going to be pretty inside baseball for some, but they seem to come down on the side that if you’re an expert the deep reservoir of content on Flyertalk is hard to beat but if you’re not already steeped in the community the place can be daunting. Randy Petersen gives a nod to Flyetalk’s content, while Internet Brands acknowledges the challenges that the site faces in being accessible to new members. The piece offers a nod to Milepoint‘s technology

Milepoint.com Offering $25 Towards Your Microlending at Kiva.org
Several Milepoint.com members got together and decided that as a group they wanted to get involved in microlending through Kiva.org.
