Qatar Airways doesn’t publish a specific time when seat inventory drops, but you can monitor changes using available tools.
Tracking Seat Availability
- Use the Seats.aero service, which lets you set up alerts for specific Qatar Airways flight numbers and receive notifications by email, SMS, or in‑app when seat maps change.
- The alerts can be configured to trigger whenever the number of available seats is updated, helping you see the moment inventory is reduced. 🔗
- Because the exact drop moment isn’t detailed in the sources, regularly checking the flight’s seat map through Seats.aero or the airline’s own booking platform is the practical way to track availability.

AeroRoutes schedule filings show Qatar’s regular A380 operations from 16 June to 15 September 2026, limited to Bangkok and London Heathrow, not Australia. For Australian travellers, that matters. VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: Cuts Doha flights on Qatar jets as bookings lag
Virgin Australia’s high-profile partnership with Qatar Airways is facing an early recalibration, with several Australia–Doha services reduced across late summer and autumn schedules. The services are operated by Qatar aircraft but sold under Virgin’s code, allowing passengers to earn Velocity Status Credits on long-haul sectors from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth to Doha. On paper, the arrangement gave Virgin Australia a global footprint without owning a single widebody aircraft. In practice, the numbers suggest the rollout hasn’t been as strong as hoped. Or possibly this is just a seasonal blip. The cuts affect flights to Doha out

Seats.aero: The Best Tool to Hunt for Award Space
You might think the title is hyperbole, but no, really, Seats.aero is hands-down the best tool for hunting for award space. Actually, I think it’s an essential tool that anyone who books award space should be paying for. Most of the features discussed below are only available with the Pro subscription. The free version allows you to look for award space up to 60 days out and set basic email alerts. Seats.aero Pro costs $9.99 USD per month or $99 USD per year. You can also pay in Canadian dollars at $12.99 CAD monthly or $129.99 CAD annually.

Qatar Airways Reward Seat Finder: Sort Of Better, But Still Not Great
In late 2024, Qatar Airways Privilege Club launched “My Reward Seat Finder,” a tool that’s supposed to efficiently show Qatar Airways award availability across an entire year, on your choice of routes. It’s a huge value-add when airlines make it easy to search award availability, so I was excited when this was launched. As I wrote about at the time, unfortunately the execution of this left a lot to be desired. So there’s some good news, as Qatar Airways has announced that it has made improvements to this feature. However, by fixing one problem, the airline has seemingly created

Qatar Airways Now Charging for Business Class Seat Selection on Award Tickets
Qatar Airways has started charging for business class seat assignments on award tickets. Anything booked into “U” class, which is business class awards and Avios upgrades, now requires paid seats if you want to choose which seat you’ll have, unless you have eligible Qatar or oneworld elite status. Seat fees show up on the seat map during selection, even where the booking path still shows “seat selection included.” Seat prices are per flight and per passenger, and vary based on length of flight. Qatar hasn’t published a terms and conditions update on this, though. There are some reports
